Alcohol and wellness don't mix; in fact, it is the complete opposite of self-care. Usually, in black culture, it is traditional to involve alcohol in everything. However, we have shifted the culture for the positive by providing black women an opportunity to be free of things that do not serve them during their journey with us. Our goal for the alcohol cleanse is to keep the vibrations high; this will ensure a meditative and rejuvenating experience.

2. What's the difference between the women of color self care retreat, women of color healing retreat and black women yoga retreat?
Women Of Color Self-Care Retreat is a retreat dedicated to black women. It is in an exclusive intimate setting where a group of women are hosted. Rather than a retreat center, the women stay in a big, beautiful jungle house, where they share meals at a communal table and curl up with a good book, on the sofa after a sweet day at the beach. You can expect gentle yoga practices, nourishing plant-based meals, group sharing, and self-peace on the tropical beaches in the Caribbean. You do not need any experience in yoga or meditation to attend. There will be plenty of leisure time where you can explore the beautiful Caribbean of Costa Rica or take some well-needed rest time. This retreat is dedicated to women that want to have some well- deserved quiet time.
Women of Color Healing Retreat is a retreat dedicated to black women. During this retreat, women enjoy enrichment-centered workshops by expert workshop facilitators, eat nourishing plant-based meals, go on hikes, zip line, take surf lessons, practice yoga, and meditation daily, and more. Yoga is an ancient healing tool scientifically proven to heal depression and anxiety. While yoga is a key component to all of our retreats, experience in yoga is not required to attend the WCHR. The Women Of Color Healing Retreat is a large retreat, as opposed to an intimate setting.
Additionally, this retreat takes place in a gorgeous eco-friendly lodge in the Caribbean of Costa Rica. This retreat is a setting where black women can be their authentic selves surrounded by those who share their experiences.
Black Women Yoga & Meditation Retreat is a retreat dedicated to black women. It is all about developing a relationship with one's yoga and meditation practice. For many, yoga is known to be a physical practice solely, but yoga goes beyond the physical. Yoga is the connection of the mind, body, and spirit. Our Yoga classes incorporate spirituality, pranayama, and additional aspects of yoga. Our intensive yoga retreat features workshops that encourage women to deepen their yoga practice. Our retreats are designed for both beginners to yoga and meditation as well as students who have practiced for many years.
4. Does women of color Self care retreats and the other retreats believe in therapy?
Women Of Color Self Care Retreats and all of its co-sister retreats believes in all forms of natural and holistic healing from reiki, yoga, meditation, and more; we also find those with mental health concerns can use natural healing methods, and they can also use clinical techniques such as therapy/psychiatry.
5. DO I HAVE TO BE PLANT-BASED TO ATTEND THIS RETREAT, DO YOU HAVE ANY RECOMMENDATIONS ON EXPLORING VEGANISM THROUGHOUT THE RETREAT?
You do not need to be vegan to attend the retreat. Participants that are not vegan should eliminate eating animal by-products and excessive process food, at least three weeks or more before attending the retreat. By removing these kinds of food, you will prepare yourself for a week of delicious plant-based meals, and it will make the journey smooth. Food is the number 1 key to women’s healing, wellness, and health. While exercises, walking, and other methods of wellness are vital, the truth is that “you can not out-exercise a bad diet.” We recognize that meat and dairy are the leading causes of illness in black people, so we have created a true wellness sanctuary to explore a healthier lifestyle.
”Eating plant-based helps cleanses the physical body of impurities accumulated from poor dietary habits. It also reduces stimulation to the digestive organs and liberates energy. A feeling of lightness affects the mind; this improves concentration and aids meditation.”
We each know that when we have eaten a heavy meal, it becomes harder to concentrate, and you can become lethargic. During the retreat, you’ll indulge in delicious plant-based meals. You will detox from alcohol, eating dead food (processed and synthetic), eating too much or too little, chemicals in food, and prolonged exposure to air pollution. A period of fasting from these things facilitates the body in throwing off toxins and frees up energy. You will walk away feeling lighter and healthier.
