Starbird discovered Yoga while in the midst of recovering from alcohol abuse. Plagued by shaky hands, unpredictable flashbacks and a diminished sense of self-esteem, she was awed by pictures of serene yogis on Instagram and found herself mimicking their postures. Desiring more guidance, she found herself at her first yoga class at Laughing Buddha in Seattle, WA and was instantly hooked.
She completed a 200-HR Vinyasa teacher training at Sattva Yoga with Ali Valdez, and has been immersed in teaching ever since. Desiring to share her passion with as many people as possible, she has taught in multiple studios in Washington state and North Carolina, led a retreat in the hills of Santa Fe, New Mexico. She is endlessly inspired by the natural flow of the universe, as well as Buddhist teachings and the words of Yogananda in Autobiography of a Yogi. Starbird strives to seamlessly integrate aspects of spirituality and play into creative, life-shifting classes. Students can expect to have their egos shattered and their spirits liberated as asana is utilized as a portal for transformation and surrender. She has been featured online by Harper's Bazaar, Elle Magazine, MindBodyGreen, and The Huffington Post. It is her mission to help others find their self worth through the practice, as well as a deep sense of union with all things, and an acceptance of what IS. She is eternally grateful for the peace and clarity she has found through Yoga, and enjoys sharing the practice with others. |
